Receivers Ernst & Young engaged Gowdie Management Group to provide several services to complete a multi-use building at 23 Howard Avenue, Dee Why.

The building comprises 20 residential units, two commercial units and five retail units and was partially completed when Ernst & Young took over.

One of our first jobs was to complete a building compliance inspection and due diligence investigation after a major storm. Form this we produced a status report outlining numerous construction issues.

The building was in poor condition due to the use of unusual construction methods which left substantially completed units exposed to the weather, a general lack of maintenance and an arson attached.

As a result of these findings, our brief was extended to provide design consulting services to rectify the original construction issues and to aid the insurance claim process by meeting the various areas of the claim. We also provided KordaMentha with all necessary information relating to increases in the cost to complete the project as a result of the storm damage.

The project was successfully completed in December 2010.
