Whisper Bay Resort at Airlie Beach in North Queensland was placed into receivership prior to completion.

Receivers KordaMentha engaged Gowdie Management Group to report and the status of this near-completed project in terms of the integrity of construction and progress on general defects, damaged work and finalisation of development issues associated with the Whitsunday Regional Council.

The project achieved practical completion in December, 2008 and had been undergoing a prolonged defects rectification period, which was exacerbated in March 2009 by damage from the back up of a council sewer and excessive inclement weather caused by tropical cyclone Hamish.
