Bachelor of Engineering Surveying, Registered Builder
Colin Taylor is an accomplished property manager, registered builder and experienced construction consultant with an impressive career spanning 40 years and a reputation for successfully managing problem projects to completion.
Colin’s methodical and thorough approach to design and construction issues allows him to prepare and implement comprehensive and detailed strategies to achieve results. He did this most recently on the Hopkins Correctional Centre (Ararat) expansion project, where he worked closely with the builder and other project consultants to ensure design compliance with the project specifications, particularly services. He is now coordinating the facilities management component of this significant public-private partnership.
Colin was instrumental in the completion of Perth’s Raine Square multi-use CBD development, which comprised 44,000m2 of office space, 13,000m2 of retail space and a 570-seat food court. As project manager and works supervisor, Colin took on a variety of complex tasks, including reviewing the construction programme, overseeing and negotiating extensions of time, managing defects and coordinating retail tenancy fit-out.
Colin also helped to deliver on-time and on-budget the completion of Jade Apartments in Townsville, a 97-unit residential development in receivership. His experience as a builder and project manager helped to turn around this failing project, successfully delivering a first-class development. Southport Central, a 32-storey mixed-use development on the Gold Coast also benefited from Colin’s experience in managing large projects. In this case, Colin’s attention to building code requirements and local authority compliance issues were critical to the successful completion of the large, triple-tower project.
Before joining Gowdie Management Group, Colin was Queensland manager for AW Edwards Pty Ltd and a consultant for various other companies, specialising in design management, programming, site finalisation, expert witness testimony, document discovery, feasibility studies, due diligence reporting, claim preparation and submission, method statements, business development and mentoring.
